Israeli
military specialists and university researchers are developing new drones and
new ways to protect buildings and buses from attack. Israel's Unmanned Aerial
Vehicle squadron uses this military drone, The Heron, to keep watch on Lebanon,
the West Bank, and Gaza (UAV officers cannot comment on any other locations the
drones are currently deployed to).
Israel uses UAVs for real-time
reconnaissance during battle, escorting ground forces, weeding out terrorists
in civilian areas, scanning the sea for unidentified vessels, and hunting for
rocket and mortar launches. The Heron is capable of being outfitted with
weapons.
